I had always been interested in hair and make-up, but I had not really thought about it as a career option. I enrolled into the 8 day make-up and hair course at first for the learning experience and to obtain the skill set out of interest. In July 2011, I completed the 8 day make-up and hair course and it changed my life. My educator Bijal was fantastic.

She was so friendly and enthusiastic and explained everything so well. At first I thought how can you learn so much in only 8 days? But everything was explained and taught so clearly from scratch.
After completing the 8 day course I was motivated to start a career in Asian bridal. I already did henna at home as a hobby, but I wanted to do it professionally. So I went on to complete the 5 day henna course in February 2012. Here I had the privilege of being taught by Kajal, one of the henna educators, and also Mr Kumar himself.
Both courses were amazing, the educators were so inspiring and gave me confidence in myself, and my abilities. I met amazing people on both the courses whom I’m still in touch with now. Everyone got along so well in the classes and the educators always had such a positive aura around them which made the experience that much more wonderful.
My favourite memory from the classes was watching Mr. Kumar apply henna, and to have my own henna done by him. It was truly inspirational.
The courses have taught me so much and given me the knowledge to practice and go further. Now I can deal with clients confidently and believe that with more and more experience I can always improve. I’ve completed both my hair and make-up portfolio and henna portfolio now so that I can show the world what I’ve learnt at the AK Academy. I’m so grateful to Mr. Kumar, and my brilliant educator Kajal especially for all that they taught me, and I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone at the AK team. xxx
